The Arts & Letters Commission
of the Orlando Alumnae Chapter will stimulate the Chapters interests in the area of Arts and Letters and use its objectives and goals as a vehicle to foster chapter participation at special Arts events, as well as raise the awareness of the sorority’s African-American influence in its community.
Our goals and objectives are to positively reflect the “black experience” in the area of Arts and Letters via a minimum of bi-monthly chapter attendance at cultural, social and art events in the community, through the chapter Arts and Letters webpage, and via the Delta Bookmark initiative.
The Delta Bookmark
The National Commission on Arts and Letters (CAL) has identified The Delta Bookmark as a Project ART (Actively Reading Together) initiative. A national book club and recommended reading list, The Delta Bookmark, promotes a lifelong love of reading. Locally OAC has established The Crimson Book Club and will provide quarterly recommended reading selections in five categories. These categories include:
- Delta Bookmark Featured Selection — “Must Read”
- Delta Spotlight Author
- Delta Pick-Up Again Classics
- Delta Young Adult’s Choice (various Age Groups)
- Delta Self-Help & Inspirational Selection
