The OAC Crimson Angel Network (OAC C.A.N.) is a Signature Program designed to inspire, empower and provide service for the citizens of Central Florida, particularly dealing with the Elderly, Foster Care, Homelessness, Poverty and Survivors of Domestic Violence. The Crimson Angel provides support services that will address the needs of the entire family structure and focuses on Physical and Mental Health issues. For more information, please contact programs@oacdst.org.

In order to actively address these efforts, the Crimson Angel Network engages in the following activities:

Signature Community Service Activities:

  • Love Luggage Drive – One Kids United
    • In the spring of each year the chapter hosts a series luggage donation drives to provide bags for foster children and/or families in distress who need them. Many children and their families have to leave their homes with only the clothes on their back. This will give them assistance as they begin to rebuild their wardrobe and their lives.   • Feed The Hungry – Central Florida Coalition for the Homeless
    • Throughout the year, OAC along with our Delta Academy, Delta GEMS and EMBODI Youth Group members – we serve food at a shelter to the 250+ residents primarily of women and children. While dinner was being served, volunteer participants provide various forms of talent through music and also have an opportunity to meet and talk with the residents. We also utilize these opportunities to host various supply drives for the residents which includes everything from general hygiene products to food supplies for their facility kitchen.
  • Adopt-A-Family Program
    • Thanksgiving Basket Giveaway:  We prepare and present 10 – 20 thanksgiving baskets for selected families filled with all the items to make a full Thanksgiving Day Feast.  We will also work with Social Actions to provide a workshop on homeownership. Past recipients have included: Foster Grandparents Program of Central Florida, Grandparents Raising Grandchildren, etc.
    • Christmas Angels Tree Program:  Members of OAC are requested to bring Christmas gifts will be distributed to all members of the selected families. A program will be held to acknowledge the families and provide the gifts. Past recipients have included: Children of Incarcerated Parents, Guardian Care Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Local Churches, etc.
  • Christmas Caroling – Guardian Care Nursing & Rehabilitation Center
    • OAC Gospel Choir goes Christmas Caroling to the residents of Guardian Care to spread Holiday Cheer through song.

Other & Past Community Service Activities:

  • Adopt-A-Room – Harbor House
    • Adopting a room makes a real difference in the life of a survivor. OAC will visit at least once every six months to clean, paint and refresh the space. A few hours is all it takes to really make a difference. OAC also will provide various other programs for survivors and their children such as: Financial Fortitude, Mental & Physical Health Programs, Scholarship Information and so much more.
  • Safety First Workshop
    • This clinic provides adequate safety techniques and security information to elementary students and parents.  This workshop consist of activities and lectures from various law enforcement and security agencies in the local community.  We provide community ID cards to each child who attends.  Fun, games and food are provided to entice and excite the children about the importance of safety.  This event is Co-Sponsored by the Police Athletic League, City of Orlando Police Department and Orange County Sheriff Department.
  • Operation Positive Direction –

    Enrichment Services
    • Done in collaboration with
      Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. (Orlando Alumni Chapter) and in partnership with the Orlando Pol
      ice Department we presented educational workshops for
      their youth mentoring programs (Operation Positive Direction & Youth
      Enrichment Services) about self-respect, self-worth, & how these components
      relate to sex & the teenager.
      There are 4 workshops, 2 for female participants & 2 for male participants.
      The female-specific workshops will be entitled “Raising the Bar”, a
      workshop about self esteem and “Are You Ready?: Protection & Prevention”, a
      workshop promoting health (sex) awareness. The male-specific workshops will be
      entitled “The Value of Self Worth”, a workshop about self, male/male &
      male/female respect and  “Are You Ready? Protection & Prevention”, a workshop
      promoting health (sex) awareness. As a wrap-up, motivational speaker
      speaks with the participants in a rally setting to reiterate the key
      initiatives of the day.
  • Help the World Supply Drive – Danita’s Children Project
    • The chapter focused on our International Awareness & Involvement thrust by assisting Danita’s Children and her Hope for Haiti Children’s Center which suffered a significant amount of lose during the hurricanes of 2008. In partnership with the National PanHellenic Council of Metro-Orlando we were able to donate hundreds of pounds of rice and beans which continue to help prevent the country from going into famine.
